Unlike anything else you would have seen before, Tauranga City Council is targeting taggers and graffiti vandalism with an 'in your face' campaign that includes the development of a larger than life spray can.

The six foot graffiti can was constructed to make a statement, generate awareness and to remind us all that graffiti vandalism is a serous crime that affects everyone in the community. It is working its way around high-traffic areas such as shopping centres and schools and will be accompanied by helpful brochures with all the information you need to help stop graffiti vandalism. Palm Beach Plaza has been the first stop with Fraser Cove next on the list.

Tauranga City Council takes a strong stance against graffiti vandalism and the can is something new and eye catching - it captures people's attention which therefore, raises their awareness and helps to empower people to do something about the graffiti vandalism in their community. The message is the same as its always been, but has been delivered in a fresh, innovative way.

There has been an increase in reporting tagging to the Tauranga Graffiti Prevention Officer and also the police since the introduction of the graffiti can, which proves that this approach is indeed, making a difference.
